Passionate, virtuosic, and refined: ZINGARESCA is a rare crossover ensemble devoted to the legendary seven-string guitar — a distinctly Eastern European instrument whose voice has resonated for more than two centuries in salons, theaters, and candle-lit ballrooms.

ZINGARESCA is a product of collaboration between the celebrated Romani (“Gypsy”) virtuoso Vadim Kolpakov, the pioneer in the revival of the seven-string guitar Oleg Timofeyev, the renowned Ukrainian-Romani singer and dancer Alina Nazarevich, and the Juilliard-trained baritone Anton Belov. The ensemble interweaves classical Eastern European guitar heritage with the best traditions of the Romani and Jewish diaspora, thus blending the sophistication of classical music with the fiery vitality of folk musical expression.

Zingaresca delighted the audiences across the United States and Canada, including recent appearances at Yale, Princeton University, Wellesley College, and venues in Chicago, Boston, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington, DC.

In addition to concert performances, Zingaresca offers educational residencies at institutions of higher learning. These include a screening of Arbatfilm’s documentary “Romani Vengerka” (90 mins, 2022), followed by a Q&A session as well as a lecture on Romani culture and history.
